At a recent meeting in Vancouver (Canada), leaders of vitiligo support organizations from 5 continents established a World Vitiligo Alliance, and invite leaders of other organizations to join. This is a major development in vitiligo area and more details will be released soon at www.worldvitiligoalliance.org

LETTER TO OGO..

Dear Ogo,

Today is June 25, a day set aside to set aside as World Vitiligo Day, your creation, your initiative.

While growing up, my first reaction to anyone living with vitiligo was to cringe at such sight and imagine the severity of the burns he/she had.

I was ignorant of such condition until my Uncle who is a Pharmacist enlightened me on it.

Just like most "albinos", many patients of Vitiligo are of low self esteem, little or no self confidence and victims of discrimination.

This is a review of research results in the vitiligo field which were indexed in the PubMed database (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed) for the period from April 2014 till June 2014. Abstracts of papers were retrieved from the PubMed database using the search term “vitiligo” with a filter set up to retrieve records with creation date between April 01, 2014 and June 30, 2014. Retrieved records were manually checked for a relevance to and significance for the field of vitiligo research.
